Roguelike Mode
An optional hard mode that can be activated via game rule.
Three things will happen:
- The game will switch you to a random, one-province ruler.
- This ruler will be cursed.
- If that ruler dies, it's game over.
Random ruler selection
Generated Vampire
With this game rule, the game generates a new, randomized Vampire. They will replace an existing one-province ruler on the map.
This is what the random character will get:
- Base stats from 0 to 10, base prowess from 0 to 5
- 3 random personality traits
- A random 3-star education trait (excluding prowess)
- A random vanilla lifestyle trait and its entire perk tree
- Random culture
- Random vampire faith (excluding Camarilla/Sabbat/Anarch)
- Random clan, excluding those that don't have objectives (meaning most bloodlines)
- 3 random disciplines
- One of the disciplines becomes advanced and its entire perk tree is unlocked
- Random predator type
- Ventrue get a random feeding restriction (choosing only from the age/education based ones)
- Starting Gold/Prestige/Piety, same as the one-province ruler that was replaced
Random
With this game rule, the game picks an existing one-province ruler to play. It will not pick characters who can resurrect (like Mummies or Demons).
You will get an event at the start of the game with some further choices:
- Only choose from immortal characters
- Choose from any ruler (keep in mind you might have to finish a major objective within a mortal's lifetime)
- Keep the character you initially chose in the bookmark
Curses
Once you are playing your new ruler, they need to receive a curse. You can choose between any of the following:
- No Wealth: -100% Domain Tax
- No Love: -1000 General Opinion
- No Rest: +300% Stress Gain
- No Belongings: -100 Domain Limit
- No Curiosity: Unable to learn new Disciplines, Arts, or Numina
- No Guile: -1000% Hostile Scheme Success Chance
- No Demands: Unable to revoke titles from vassals
Alternatively, you can let the game select a random curse for you, or gain ALL of the curses at once.
Finishing a Major Objective will lift all curses.
Receiving a curse will add a broken crown icon to your character window. Lifting one curse turns it into a bronze crown, and lifting all of them turns it into a golden crown.
Permadeath
If your ruler dies, it's game over.
There is an alternative game rule, Random (no permadeath), which instead switches you to a different one-province ruler upon death.
Other changes
The Vatican Journey is available to any splat in Roguelike Mode, so that characters who'd otherwise be softlocked can still do the Forever Indomitable objective.
