Buildings

Buildings in PoD represent your influence over the mortal populace of a specific county. You are playing a supernatural ruler and, as such, must take care that you can pull as much resources from the sleeping masses as you can in order to win over your competition.

Vampire Buildings

Cainites

Quick and Dirty

Some Vampires still cling to the open rule over the masses of olde times. These buildings chains represent this, all having a big drawback, but being cheap in a pinch. They cost gold and are available in all holdings. Favorite of the Tzimisce/Sadistic AI.

Open Rule : Gives Dread, Dread by Tyranny at higher levels. -monthly popular opinion as mortals start plotting against your tyrannical rule.

Blood Tax : Gives monthly tax. -development as you crush any prosperity from your counties.

Forced Conscription : Gives bonus to men at arms. -monthly control as people (mortals or otherwise) start to avoid your conscription attempts.

Night Terror : Alternative to open rule for particular savage gangrel/road of the beast. Control malus, development malus, men at arms malus. +knights.

Main Chains

The following chains are “mainstream” chains, intended for a subtle and more long term thinking ruler. Almost all of them are gated and enabled by x control in the county, meaning that any new conqueror will take time to settle in before reaping the benefits.

Influencing the Nobles : Gives flat popular opinion, and tax multiplier. Starts with a garrison size malus as the county is badly organized until you put your people in place.

Influencing the Merchants : Gives monthly tax. Starts with a malus on popular opinion until you take care of any dissenters with the later buildings.

Night Watch : Gives bonus to men at arms. Starts with a malus on monthly tax as bribing officials isn’t exactly cheap until you have mastered it.

Running the Underworld : Mix of bonus to men at arms and monthly tax. Gives a popular opinion malus.

Rabble and Thugs : Small numbers of basic levies. Gives a monthly prestige malus. Gated by development (more developed province = more thugs to go around).

Influencing the Lawgivers : Needs Innovation : Hoardings. Gives monthly control flat and multiplier.

Haven Defenses : Needs Innovation : Castle Baileys. Gives garrison, fort level, levy replenishment rate.

Remote Haven : Needs Innovation : Windmills. Gives prestige, stress loss and scheme defense.

Mercenary Companies : Needs Innovation : Machicolations. Gives Heavy Infantry bonuses.

Influencing the Barracks : Needs Innovation : Royal Armory. Gives MaA bonuses.

Influencing the Burghers : Needs Innovation : Crane and high development. Gives tax.

Prince of a City Buildings

The following chain is the replacement of the “Population” mechanic of PoD CK2. It is tied to development, a value that Vampires shouldn’t be able to increase, but are certainly able to decrease (they are parasites) most notably by the “quick and dirty” chains (representing Tzimisce strangulation of growth in Transylvania, or other cainites wanting power at the expense of sustainability). It is only available in ducal capital counties. It costs prestige. A Vampire with a Metropolis can punch far above his weight, even if that is his only holding.

Ruling a City/Capital/Metropolis Various bonus ranging from +knights to +prestige, depending on the level. Also the main source of levies.
